We tried patches from different providers: Double Alpha (link), which are not water resistant and cost 3,95€ for 1000 patches in a roll; kalkatzakos (link), which are also not water resistant and cost 2,80€ for 1000 patches in a roll; ipscstore.com, where we got the EEMANN TECH TARGET PATCHES – TAN – 20MM X 3000PCS (Link), which are water proof with cost 5,07€ for 3000 patches in a roll; and shootntrain.com, where we used the Premium IPSC Cardboard Target plastic patches (link), which are water proof and cost 3,20€ for 1000 patches in a roll.
What the manufactures claims
DAA claims in their web site that “The DAA Target Patches are custom made to perfectly color-match the most commonly used cardboard targets, making the patches practically invisible on the cardboard background. This quality patch material is humidity and frost resistant, allowing these patches to be applied in almost any weather conditions. Our patches are not the standard 20mm-round that so many others offer! We custom made our patches to be 22.x22mm square, which allows them to cover a much larger area. You will find the DAA patches easier and faster to apply to cover up holes without having to make such an effort to “aim” your patches as you apply them.”

Mechanical Properties
For the test of mechanical properties, we used both Premium IPSC Cardboard targets from shootntrain.com (link) and standard IPSC Cardboard targets from prosystemarmory.com (link ) (see another post for extended test Link).
DoubleAlpha Patches were large enough to cover holes, but the color was too intense, and the shooter was distracted by the patches. On nearby targets, patches were knocked off by gas or multiple bullets in the same spot. In high humidity and light rain, they did not perform well.
Ipscstore.com Patches had less distraction for the shooter, on nearby targets, patches were knocked off by gas or multiple bullets in the same spot and their adhesive seemed weak. In high humidity and light rain, they did not perform well.
Prosystemarmory.com Patches had less distraction for the shooter, on nearby targets, patches were knocked off by gas or multiple bullets in the same spot and their adhesive seemed weak. In high humidity and light rain, they did not perform well.
Shootntrain.com Patches had an amazing match with the targets and were completely invisible at distances under five meters even when we tested with a huge number of shots. Adhesive was hardening very quickly even when we first stuck them on hand and then on the target. We tried to make them fall by different ways ex. Shooting at the edge of the patch, multiple shots on same patch, but all attempts failed! In high humidity or light rain, the results were very impressive.
